Robotech Defenders

I received both issues in the Robotech Defenders miniseries in the mail today. I just finished reading the first one and it was fantastic! I haven’t been carried away by a comic for quite a while, and it was so much fun. The various settings briefly glimpsed were exciting, and I really enjoyed the team of characters and their potential.

The cover indicates this is the first of three issues; however, the projected remaining issues were combined into one extra-long second issue.

I have gotten into so many different comic book series in the past. They are an escape for me. It’s something I really value and haven’t been able to do for quite some time, mostly because of the difficulty for me in holding a comic due to my physical situation. However, I’m thankfully at the point now where it’s getting a bit easier. I also used a book stand to help and it worked pretty well.

As reading has been slowly getting more comfortable, I learned about this comic. I didn’t even know of its existence until very recently, although as a child I had Zoltek, one of the Robotech Defender model kits put out by Revell in 1984. It was a gift from my parents and, as I mentioned elsewhere on this site, became an impetus for epic stories that ebbed and flowed in my mind.

Even though the comic is a completely separate and different entity from my childhood imaginations, it is really neat to be able to tap into something similar and enjoy an experience akin to those of my childhood.

I wanted to read the second and final issue right away, but I am trying to wait until tomorrow in an effort to savor the enjoyment.
