I began collecting postcards while looking for hobbies I could pursue while trying to recover from a pelvic and spinal condition. Many of the hobbies I normally enjoy have been put on hold during this recovery. Postcards have proved to be a lot of fun to collect. I have two main collections: postcards featuring Mount Fuji, especially hand-tinted photograph postcards, and postcards featuring classic authors, especially writers in which I have particular interest.
I especially like old postcards, the older the better. If they have an old stamp, postmark, and message, so much the better!
